The Experience
More than an event. A night you'll still be talking about in December.
Imagine an evening where nobody checks the time. Where the music goes late, the tea keeps coming, and the gathering is the whole point. This is the Morocco I grew up in, in Fes — and for one night, it's yours. Oud and world percussion fill the courtyard. Mint tea, poured high and sweet. A grazing table to linger over. And as dusk settles, a belly dance lesson — no experience needed — where Brandi Mizilca leads the whole courtyard through the shimmy, the hip drop, the joy of it, until everyone's dancing. Henna, if the stars align. Then tea and dancing under the open sky, in no hurry to leave.
Live Music
Oud and world percussion, as the sun goes down.
The night is carried by River and Chris from Free Planet Radio — Chris on oud, the ancient soul of Arabic and Mediterranean music, and River on world percussion, the heartbeat you'll feel before you hear. Together they weave the sound of Morocco and the wider world into the Blue Ridge dusk: music to sink into over tea, and to move to as the lanterns come up.
The Welcome

In Morocco, tea isn't a drink — it's a welcome. All evening, atay poured high and sweet, alongside a grazing table of Moroccan delicacies: warm bread and olive oil, dates and almonds, briouats, ghriba, and honeyed sweets to linger over between songs.

The Dance Lesson
A belly dance lesson — no experience needed. As dusk settles, Brandi Mizilca Hubiak leads the whole courtyard through the shimmy, the hip drop, the joy of it. By the end, everyone's dancing.

A henna bar, if the stars align — delicate patterns drawn by hand in the lantern light, yours to wear for days after.
How the Evening Unfolds

River Guerguerian and Chris Rosser start playing. Come in, find a seat, let the mountain quiet down around you.

Belly dance
Brandi Mizilca teaches. All are invited to join. No experience needed, just a willingness to move.

And so does the dancing. This is the part where the room forgets itself.

And send you off into the mountain dark.
